Banquine Fundamentals with Ahad Kebede & Cierra!
Want to explore more group acro and build dynamic Banquine skills? Join Ahad and Cierra for a 90-minute workshop focused on the fundamentals of Banquine. We’ll work on group timing and coordination, base/flyer connections, throwing and catching mechanics, and drills designed to build a strong foundation for dynamic Banq skills, with progressions based on the experience and level of the group.
Prerequisites
Participants should meet the prerequisites for the role they plan to train.
Bases:
Able to perform a 75 lb upright row comfortably, pain-free, and without difficulty
Able to perform a full squat with hips at least parallel to the ground
Able to perform a 150 lb barbell squat comfortably, pain-free, and without difficulty
Flyers:
Comfortable flying a two-high and able to actively lead/assist the base through the skill
Able to squat and jump off both legs comfortably and pain-free
About Ahad
Ahad Kebede is a passionate hobbyist acrobat who has been training since 2000. His experience includes eight years performing with a sports acrobatics team, training with professional acrobats in Las Vegas, and leading a performing acro team in Los Angeles. As a Critical Care Nurse Practitioner, Ahad brings a strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics to his coaching, helping acrobats better understand movement, body mechanics, and safe technique while learning complex skills.
About Cierra
Cierra is an Austin-based acro instructor with over seven years of acro experience and a background in gymnastics and competitive cheerleading. Her practice focuses on standing and dynamic acrobatics, drawing on her experience across acro, gymnastics, and cheer to explore technique, timing, and partner communication. She loves breaking dynamic skills into approachable progressions and helping students build the foundations and confidence to work toward bigger skills.
